The cosmography of the east

The erawan museum was born of Mr. Lek Viriyapant's ideas and imagination. He would like to continue the tradition of Thai arts and craft. And especially he would like to preserve his collection of antiques as a contribution to Thai cultural heritage.

The erawan museum is deviced 3 sections. For the first section is like the beasment but you can't take a photo because it is about antiques that have to keep it saft.



The second section is like the Earth. You can see three type of art work. There are four pillars inside the building, it has a different pattern. It represents the main religion of the world. It means the religion support the world.

This is the stucco work that decorate with benjarong ceramices

Stained-glass on the ceiling of the museum is the same as roof of the world

This is the view that you will see when you are inside the elephant's belly

The third section is like the heaven. You can see a Buddha images from different periods. And the tempera painting of the Solar system on the ceiling of the elephant's belly.


Around the Erawan museum has a botanical garden and sculpture of animals of Himavanta forest. You can walk inside this lush and shady garden.
